Softball and Baseball to play Saturday in NCC Championships

Both the AHS softball and baseball teams will continue play in the NCC Championships on Saturday at Richmond. The softball team will play Richmond at 10:00 on Saturday at Richmond High School for an opportunity to play in the 5th/6th place game. Their second game will be at 1:00. Boys Track NCC Champions

Friday evening the AHS boys track team won the North Central Conference championships held at Arsenal Tech High School. This is the boys’ 14th title overall and first since the 1982-83 school year. Rotary sportsmanship nominees announced

Each year, the Rotary Club sponsors a sportsmanship awards luncheon as part of their regular meeting. This is to award student athletes who have exemplified  the high ideals of good sportsmanship while representing their school. Each coach nominates a sport representative and these student athletes then select the overall winner from Anderson High School. This year’s nominees

At next Wednesday’s, Johnny Wilson Award Luncheon, Anderson will be represented by Junior Tracy Harvey and Senior Jason Kabir. The award is presented to an individual that has earned at least two varsity letters in three different sports during their high school career. Ventura signs to swim at AU

Senior Austin Ventura will continue his swimming career at Anderson University next fall. Austin was a four year letter winner for Coach Eddy’s boys swim team at Anderson. AU will begin their 1st year of a competitive swim team and Austin will be in the first recruiting class. Good luck to Austin.

Girls track has strong showing

 The AHS girls track team had a strong showing at last Friday night’s Madison County Championship. The girls 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams picked up victories on the night. Individually, Deondra Sutton won the 100 meter hurdles and Kathleen Jones won the pole vault competition.

Anderson boys track defends county title

The Anderson High School boy’s track team defended it’s Madison County Title last Friday at Madison Grant. Anderson won 9 of the 16 contested events. Leading the way for the Indians was Semaj White who set two new county records in the 200 with a time of 22.84 and the 400 50.04. Semaj also was

NCC Academic All Conference named

The North Central Conference has named their 2015-16 Winter Academic All Conference members. The Anderson student athletes named include: Janae Davis- Girls Basketball, Sterling Bourke and Jalen Gutierrez- Wrestling, Joe Moran- Boys Basketball and Jarren Keck- Boys Swimming. Congratulations to these AHS student athletes.
