Anderson’s winter sports programs had a big week! Here’s a brief recap:

Boys Basketball:

The Tribe lost the county tournament opener on Monday to Liberty Christian (54-56), but rallied throughout the rest of the week to defeat APA (90-37) and Alexandria (63-48) in the consolation bracket.  The boys were led in scoring by Ty Wills (31 points on the week) and Jalen Murphy (33 points on the week).  The Tribe is now 3-4 going into an important weekend with a conference matchup @ Lafayette Jefferson on Friday (1/15).

The freshman basketball team capped off the big week sweeping Lafayette Jefferson in a double header Saturday morning!

Girls Basketball:

The Lady Tribe sealed their 4th straight county title this week with wins against Liberty Christian (76-26), Lapel (52-37), and Pendleton Heights (61-56). In the championship game, the Lady Tribe was led by Tyra Ford with 28 and Karlee Goodwin with 12.  The Lady Tribe is now 8-7 with matchups against Carmel, Mt. Vernon, and Lafayette Jeff this week.


The wrestling team scored a victory Tuesday vs. county rival Alexandria, losing only one match on its way to a 51-18 victory.  This week, the Tribe wrestlers travel to Guerin Catholic on Tuesday and the conference meet @ Richmond on Saturday.


The AHS swim team took home hardware in both the girls and boys conference championships this weekend, with the boys scoring a 2nd place overall finish and the girls taking home 3rd.  The boys were led with championship performances by Dayton Edwards (50 free and 100 butterfly), Carson Smitherman (200 free and 100 free) and the 400 free relay team of Edwards, Smitherman, Eskew, and Strait.  The girls had their share of champions as well with Amber Lindzy (200 and 500 free) and the 400 free relay team of Swanson, Hahn, Bramwell, and Lindzy topping the podium. The Tribe Swimmers are back in action this week with their final home meet against New Castle on Tuesday (1/12).
