ANDERSON – Your Anderson Indians enter their 110th football season (125th anniversary of first team) looking to improve upon last year’s disappointing 1-9 mark. The tests come early and often as the Tribe will face a strong Hamilton Heights team tonight in a pre-season controlled scrimmage. The Huskies are coming off a 5-4 season a year ago, which was their 8th consecutive winning season.
Anderson will start the experienced Aaron Armstrong at quarterback. Jove’on Poor returns to the offense as a dual threat running and receiving the ball. Newcomer Ty Jae Rayford, who stars for the Indians basketball team, should also add some potency to the receiving corps as he has elected to play football in this, his senior year. Anderson features a large offensive line, led by senior Elijah Love, who stands 6’4″ at 270 pounds.
On defense, the Indians will rely on heavy hitters Ty Morrow, Mercklin Dewitt, and Keyounis Woods, among others. Raiden Davis anchors a defensive line set on putting constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Tickets are available at the gate for $5 at the Collier Field Box Office. The scrimmage begins at 7:00 p.m.
